About Dr. Cook

Steve Cook, DC, is a caring and dedicated family chiropractor serving your entire family — including adults, children, and dogs and horses — in Fort Collins, Colorado. At Brave Roots Chiropractic, Dr. Cook offers personalized and detailed care for sciatica, lower back pain, whiplash, headaches, neck pain, numbness, tingling, and shoulder pain.

Dr. Cook earned his undergraduate degree in natural resource conservation at the State University of New York at Morrisville in Morrisville, New York, before beginning a career as a land surveyor. When he was 23, Dr. Cook sustained a back injury while camping and found immediate relief after receiving his first chiropractic adjustment. This experience ignited a passion for helping others through natural methods, so Dr. Cook enrolled at New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) in Seneca Falls, New York.

After earning his doctorate at NYCC, Dr. Cook relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado, and founded Brave Roots Chiropractic in 2010. The clinic derives its name from a phenomenon in which buffalo run directly into a storm to minimize the pain, time, and discomfort they experience from the storm. Like buffalo facing a storm, Dr. Cook faces pain and musculoskeletal problems head-on, taking an active approach to diagnosis and treatment to alleviate patients’ issues as quickly as possible.

In 2012, Dr. Cook completed advanced training and certification in animal chiropractic from Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic in Wellsville, Kansas, and the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association, the gold standard in animal chiropractic.

Dr. Cook uses a variety of treatment approaches in his practice, including the Gonstead Method of Chiropractic Analysis for a traditional chiropractic adjustment, Torque
Release Technique™ for gentler adjustments, and the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) for pregnant women. Dr. Cook is very comfortable caring for expecting moms and children, and takes a very detailed, patient-centered approach to care.

In his free time, Dr. Cook enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and their son. They enjoy country life, chickens, Crossfit and eating ice cream at The Walrus in Old Town Fort Collins.

Most Insurances Accepted

Dr. Steven Cook is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield (also known as Anthem) and Cigna health insurances. Have a different insurance? No problem. Our office also routinely bills health savings accounts (HSA) as well as most other health insurance policies as an out of network provider, which sometimes results in less out of pocket expense on your behalf believe it or not. If you have chiropractic benefits, we would be happy to bill them for you. Simply pay your co-pay or have us apply your payment towards the deductible – we'll do all the rest!
